Thank you so much to everyone who wrote in for our first #AskTOAFN of Book 2! We answered as many questions as we could. If yours didn’t get answered, we hope you’ll try again next time.

And let us know if you enjoy this episode and whether we should keep doing this.

Meet Our New Cast & Crew Members!

In between Books 1 & 2, we at The Once And Future Nerd had to bid a fond farewell to the wonderful actor Lily Drexler and the brilliant sound designer Sandra Ramirez, whose promising careers took them elsewhere. We wish them the absolute best and thank them for their years of skillful work.

But, with the first Chapter of Book 2 behind us, we wanted to take the opportunity to introduce you all to the newest members of our team. You can always check out the full list of our Cast & Crew on this page, but here are our newest additions:

Shannon Harris – Voicing several characters we’re excited for you to meet…

Shannon Harris, a NYC based actor and writer, is thrilled to join the TOAFN team. In addition to “Once” and “Future,” she is a nerd of the Shakespeare variety, which (in part) led to performing alongside fellow TOAFN cast member Ian Harkins in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) in the Hamptons last summer. To learn more about Shannon’s work, visit her website TheShannonHarris.com.

Juliet Prather – Voicing Gwen, Ry’y lo-Th’yyt

Juliet Prather is an improvisor, writer, and producer living in New York City who is pumped to be a part of The Once and Future Nerd. She began her training at ColdTowne Theater in Austin, TX where she co-created the all-female comedy festival, BettyFest, and co-produced the sketch comedy show+party, So Juiced. She has since trained at iO Chicago and is currently in the Advanced Study Program at UCB NY. You can see Juliet dancing the sacred dance of improv with her teams, Patio Talk and Flavortown, and performing in the all-female character show she produces, Painted Toe Comedy Hour.

Jared Paul – Production Sound Recording

Jared is a Brooklyn-based audio engineer, excited to have joined the TOAFN crew this season. Other podcast work includes Wolf 359. Other work includes sound design and mixing for film, broadcast, commercials, animation, museum content, and recording/mixing music. If he’s not deep in the studio oblivious to whether it’s day or night, he’s probably off somewhere on his bike, or in the kitchen enjoying a cold brew while cooking up a storm.

Garrett Schultz – Lead Post Production Mixer and Sound Designer

Garrett does post-production sound design and mixing for film, tv, podcasts/radio, and ads. He is a Columbia College Chicago graduate from the Audio Arts and Acoustics department, and has been making sounds and noise for more than half his life. As a serious podcast and audio-drama junkie, he is very happy to be working with TOAFN. You can see (and hear) his work at www.destrieraudio.com.

A Cruel And Sullied World, Pt. 4

It’s the dramatic conclusion of Book 2, Chapter 1. At the Horse’s Head Inn, Arlene and Gwen Anna and Gayle reluctantly make plans regarding their newfound ward. In an ice cave in the south seas, Renault the “nice” necromancer meets a legendary warrior from an age nearly forgotten. And back near Freehold, a newly (and just barely) conscious Regan divulges what she saw in the western forest.

The script for this episode can be downloaded here.

We’ll be taking our customary micro-break between chapters, but release dates for Book 2, Chapter 2 – entitled “What Used To Be Enough” – will be announced shortly. In the meantime, though, we’ll be answering listener questions on air! Read this post for full details on how to submit a question.

We’ll be answering YOUR questions on air…

TL;DR – Send us TOAFN questions using #AskTOAFN between April 23 and  April 28 for a chance to have your question answered on air and/or to win a free book!

Wanted to let everyone know that we’ll be recording an end-of-chapter bonus episode with some of the cast members on April 29 (to be released on May 7), and we’d love to answer some listener questions. So, send us your questions on Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, or Reddit using the hashtag #AskTOAFN. You might just get yours answered on air. Questions can be about anything TOAFN-related – creative process, technical process, characters, plot, etc. – through the end of Book 2 Chapter 1. (Though we’ll of course be all coy and evasive if you ask for spoilers.) You can start asking now if you like, though you might want to wait until you’ve listened to the Chapter 1 finale, which comes out this Sunday, April 23. It’s NOT first come first served so don’t panic about being getting your question in first.

If you all enjoy this thing, we might make it a regular feature.

ALSO – We have some SFF books to give away courtesy of Inkshares, so a few respondents selected at random will get a free book!

That’s all for now. We look forward to hearing from you, and make sure to check your feeds on Sunday for the conclusion of “A Cruel And Sullied World.”

All Scripts Now Publicly Available

Wanted to let everyone know that we have decided to make all of our script PDFs publicly available.

If you are able, we still recommend audio as the ideal format for enjoying TOAFN. But, we know that media consumption is never one-size-fits-all. So if you require or prefer a text version of our story for any reason, we’re glad to announce that that’s now an option.

Beginning with our next episode on April 23, 2017, each new episode post will include a download link to the script PDF. But you can download our entire back catalog here.

We hereby officially certify our scripts as being…nearly perfectly accurate. These are the scripts we record with. Every once in awhile, there may be a last minute ad lib or a line changed in the edit. In the case of any such discrepancies, the audio is canon. If these changes are ever substantial to understanding the story, we will do our best to flag it when we post the script. In any case, if you only read the scripts you will still be perfectly well-equipped to discuss our story with other fans.

For anyone who was thinking of supporting us on Patreon and was really looking forward to script exclusivity as a Patron perk, we are sweetening the pot by instead releasing episodes to Patrons the night before we release them to the general public.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
-TOAFN
