Cast Update: Spring 2014

Greetings Dear Viewers!

Wanted to let you know about some awesome live theater events that a few of our incredibly talented cast members are going to be performing in in the near future.

First up, Lily Drexler (Gwen) will be starring in DARK WATER by David Stallings, directed by Heather Cohn and presented by MTWorks. Here’s a synopsis:

The swampland of Louisiana is hit with the most massive oil spill known to history. Barnacle, an old sea turtle, fights against man’s destruction, nature’s wrath, and her enemies of the wild to save her children trapped in the spill. Poetry, allegory, music, puppetry and movement create this magical world as the animals of Louisiana face the ultimate threat to their lives.

DARK WATER will run from March 14-29 (Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm) at the 14th Street Y. Tickets are available at MTWorks.org or by calling 866-811-4111.

Then, starting in April, Anya Gibian (Regan, Arlene) will be singing, dancing, playing cello and, in her own words, “who knows what else,” in THE MYSTERIES, from award-winning playwright and director Ed Sylvanus Iskandar, performed by The Bats at The Flea Theater in Tribeca. Here’s a synopsis of that:

The Flea embarks on an extravaganza with 48 playwrights and 54 actors retelling the entirety of The Bible in a single night. 50 World Premiere plays telling the entire History of Man’s Salvation from The Fall of Lucifer through and including Judgment Day.

Performances run Monday, Thursday – Saturday at 6:30 and Sunday at 4:30 from April 3 through May 25. You can get tickets here, but buy yours soon as they’re going quick! Dinner is included with your ticket.

That’s all for now. If you’re in the NY area and are into live theater, you should definitely check these events out.

Christian Contributed to an Actual Book You Can Buy

Hello listeners. Director here. Just wanted to take a brief moment to plug a book I contributed to – The De-Textbook, by the writers of Cracked.com. You can learn more about the book – and pre-order a copy! – here.

I don’t get any money or anything based on how this book sells, but if you like TOAFN, you’ll probably like the stuff Cracked puts out. I learned a lot of my genre-riffing tricks from them,  and they have the best record of any internet comedy site I know for mocking victimizers rather than victims.

If you wanna read the piece I contributed to that made its way into the book, you can find that one here.

Go See Anya in a Short Play

UPDATE: ENCORE PERFORMANCE ADDED. SEE BELOW.

(a ten-minute play with improvised music throughout)
Note: Apparently Anya likes appearing in works that start with rabbits as much as I like writing works that start with rabbits.

Costume design & execution Jacqueline Joseph
