TOAFN Returns on Jan. 30!

We are thrilled to announce that THE ONCE AND FUTURE NERD is returning on January 30, 2022!

A few other important scheduling notes:

  • We are switching to a monthly release schedule. Going forward, episodes will be released on the last Sunday of every month.
  • One upside of that change is that we expect to release new episodes consistently for at least the remainder of 2022 and hopefully beyond.
  • In line with this change, we’re switching our Patreon account to bill monthly, and also simplifying our reward tiers. You can find out all the details of that, or become a Patron at Patreon.com/onceandfuturenerd.
  • Whether you already support us on Patreon or plan to start, make sure to select a reward tier before Jan 30, or Patreon will not send you your rewards!!
  • All of Book One is now also available on our YouTube channel. We’ll also be posting a chapter of Book 2 on Wednesdays and Sundays leading up to the premiere of Book 2 Chapter 7. If you want to re-listen before the new episode and talk to other fans, you can post on social media using #TOAFNReRead

Casting Notice!

Award-winning scripted Fantasy Adventure podcast THE ONCE AND FUTURE NERD is looking to cast a major recurring role.

The Character (late 20’s/early 30s, female) is a very erudite mage with a strong moral core. She’s at a crossroads with respect to the prior assumptions of her faith, and her fraught relationship with her more provincial parents.

We are especially interested in hearing auditions from Black women for this role.

We are hoping to rehearse and record 1 “chapter” of our show roughly every 2-3 months once production resumes, which we intend to do in late March/early April. You should assume recording will be remote for the foreseeable future. (If you do not have your own home recording setup that is to our specifications, one will be provided to you, if you are cast.) You should assume ~5-10 hours of total work per chapter, which includes rehearsal and recording. At this time, we’re able provide actors with a $25 honorarium per chapter.

ATTENTION FANTASY WRITERS!

THE ONCE AND FUTURE NERD is seeking freelance writers to pitch and write minisodes (~5 minute audio drama vignettes) set within the High Fantasy world of our show. Scripts based on accepted pitches will be recorded by our cast and released on our main feed.

These will be PAID commissions – Writers of accepted pitches will receive $40 per completed/approved script.

Writers must be willing to work within our established script format, and to implement Producer notes on content, style, and story canon. Experience writing for audio is preferred, as is existing knowledge of TOAFN’s story world and tone. But anyone with a pitch for a short High Fantasy story will be considered.

Writers of Color and writers of marginalized genders are strongly encouraged to apply.

Please DO NOT include your pitch in your initial email. We will respond back with instructions on how to pitch us.
