All Scripts Now Publicly Available

Wanted to let everyone know that we have decided to make all of our script PDFs publicly available.

If you are able, we still recommend audio as the ideal format for enjoying TOAFN. But, we know that media consumption is never one-size-fits-all. So if you require or prefer a text version of our story for any reason, we’re glad to announce that that’s now an option.

Beginning with our next episode on April 23, 2017, each new episode post will include a download link to the script PDF. But you can download our entire back catalog here.

We hereby officially certify our scripts as being…nearly perfectly accurate. These are the scripts we record with. Every once in awhile, there may be a last minute ad lib or a line changed in the edit. In the case of any such discrepancies, the audio is canon. If these changes are ever substantial to understanding the story, we will do our best to flag it when we post the script. In any case, if you only read the scripts you will still be perfectly well-equipped to discuss our story with other fans.

For anyone who was thinking of supporting us on Patreon and was really looking forward to script exclusivity as a Patron perk, we are sweetening the pot by instead releasing episodes to Patrons the night before we release them to the general public.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
-TOAFN

“Singing Sister” Sales on Feb. 3 will go to the ACLU

TL;DR – If you buy Arlene’s song on Friday, Feb. 3 2017, all of your money will be donated to the ACLU.

In light of recent events, Bandcamp has pledged to donate the entirety of their share of sales on Friday, Feb. 3 2017 (starting 12pm Pacific) to the ACLU. You can read Bandcamp’s press release here. Several members of our team already contribute privately to the ACLU, but we thought this would be a good opportunity for any of our fans looking to do the same.

As you may know, we currently sell “The Singing Sister” through Bandcamp (link at the top). If you buy the song this Friday, we will also donate the entirety of our share of sales to the ACLU.

For those of you keeping score at home, that means Bandcamp’s whole share and our whole share will be donated – which leaves only a cent or two on the dollar going to PayPal. If you’ve done your homework, you may have some misgivings about one of the founders of PayPal. So, to offset that concern, we will also match and double the PayPal fees in our donation.

Thanks everyone. Stories matter, and we’ll keep doing what we can to ensure that endangered stories get heard. We hope you’ll join us in the effort.

TAKING INITIATIVE Pilot

Today’s bonus content is the pilot episode of a new side project from our editor, Josh. It’s a D&D podcast called Taking Initiative.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did, but any feedback is welcome. If this just isn’t your cup of tea, don’t worry. Taking Initiative will have its own website and feed so that this one doesn’t get bogged down with a show you didn’t sign up for. But if you’d like to hear more Taking Initiative after today, you can head over to thespark.network for all the subscription info.

Oh and by the way…the next announcement you hear from us will be the release dates for Book 2. Stay subscribed 🙂

And keep reading for Creative Commons attributions of music used in this episode.

We’re really excited to announce that the Special Edition of The Once And Future Nerd Book 1, is now available through Audiobooks on Tape. (They make these really cool USB flash drives that look like old cassette tapes!)

The Special Edition includes:

  • Full chapter files with credits only once per chapter for maximum bingeing (previously only available to Patreon subscribers)
  • Bonus interviews
  • TOAFN artwork in 4K Ultra HD, including our new map, and several never-before-seen character designs.

All proceeds from the Special Edition will go towards funding Book 2 (which we are currently writing!), and are also a great gift for anyone who loves Fantasy or Audiodrama, but doesn’t do podcasts.

Purchase at AudioBooksOnTape.com (just search for ‘Once And Future Nerd’).

And in honor of the Special Edition, we sat down for a conversation with Ian Harkins (the Narrator) looking back at Book 1. Think of it like a free companion piece.

We’ve also got some limited-time-only coupon codes for fans who want to purchase the special edition, so keep reading for those.
